Meridians: Connections Between Organs & Joints
LINKING THE BODY TOGETHER
Our body has many energy channels and information pathways that link together through nerves in the brainstem, interconnecting along the spine, through the digestive system and ending at terminals in our fingers and toes – as well as meeting at points all over the body and even found around the eyes and on the ears. Everything is linked by what are called 'meridians'.
Along the middle back of the body, located between the rhomboid muscles and the back of the heart, is found a nerve plexus – a large area of ganglia that connects to the emotional body. This area can become stiff when we overly control the emotions (stoicism) or when we have a 'stagnation' of emotion through being isolated and even through being stuck in one phase of being – including happiness. Having a release of emotions is good for establishing a range of emotional connection, which links us from the anus (fear), dread (the pit of the stomach), anger (the liver), grief (the lungs), love and courage (the stomach up to the lower heart), ecstasy and anxiety (Thymus gland), through to rage (the throat) and up to joy (the crown of the head). All of these areas correspond to nerve ganglia and what are called 'Chakras'.
Using the voice, called 'vocal toning', - one example here or finding your lowest and highest notes with sacred vowel sounds here – helps to connect the spinal energies, the emotional body, the organs and activate the voice. We can also watch sad films, dramas, read books that evoke feelings we may not always express and even cause the eyes to water with onions or smelling salts – as this opens the pathways that link the liver, gallbladder, kidneys, lungs and bladder, releasing saline tears and excess fluids.
Certain exercises in Yoga and postures like laying over a bolster, also help to release pressure round the nadial complex and at the front of the lower abdomen, allowing the bladder and areas linking through the lymph, to release.
When this upper back area becomes stiff, the muscles of the lower back, the hip connectors (32 each side), the hamstrings and the pelvic floor, can all become strained or over-stretched, resulting in tightening of the major muscles of the thighs (quads) and the glutes, affecting lymph drainage in the legs and blocking channels linking to the bladder. When this happens, touching toes is a good sign, as is middle, lower and upper back/shoulder tightness. All of the major nerves along the spine are affected, especially those linking the arms around C4 and C5 (cervical) joints. This can significantly affect how information is sent to the hands.
Energy Meridians
Meridians on the body, around the eyes and on the ears, can be best manipulated through acupuncture – especially as many of the main points are located along the back/spine and in areas we cannot easily reach. Chinese doctors know how to best place needles along the main meridians for faster progress with stuck energies affecting the abdomen, arms, hands, and lower body and often use the ears for managing afflictions which have closer proximity to the brain and for issues that are related to habitual causes. For example, ears are targeted for headaches and for addictions like smoking.
When we have issues in the thumb, the entire nervous system along the back may be compromised by a number of issues relating to emotional stagnation (stuck thoughts), parasitic issues in the gut (candida and mould), or blockages of the lymph system which has major junctions around the lower back, sitting above the bladder. The image below is where the main drainage system (Cisterna Chyli), is located and blockages here will affect how the lungs, the liver, the large intestine, and bladder operate – as these are our waste disposal systems (as well the skin, armpits and groin).
Where usually having deep tissue/Thai massages, acupuncture, or reflexology will help with energy blockages, where joints in the opposable thumb, the fingers and toes are affected, it may mean that a total cleansing of the digestive system, including the lymphatic nodes, ridding the blood of contaminants, plus a resetting of the kidneys and liver, may be needed first.
While reflexology usually deals with pressure points on the feet that reflexology therapists can work on, we can find areas of the body located on the hands which we can more easily remedy ourselves. The best tools for doing this are our fingers and thumbs, but when our hands become inflamed due to joint issues, working on our own hands requires tools. Two of the best tools are able to locate the meridians of the hands and fingers by setting off electrical pulses into the nerves and along the meridian lines.
Magnetic & Electrical Energy Tools
The pen shown above has different intensity levels for activating the energy meridians and nerves. This tool is ideal for locating the right areas to apply the electrical impulses for recovery of the body relating to the inflamed joints – just as a trained acupuncture/Chinese doctor will be able to. Simply set the level you are comfortable with and use this along the main meridian points. The large intestine covers a large area of the spine as it reaches from the appendix area, travelling up the abdomen, transversing along near the stomach and underside of the liver, then descending down to the colon – making connections along the spine which will impact the kidneys, pancreas, duodenum, stomach and the bladder.
If mild electrical shocks put off anyone from using these tools in recovery, there is a no-pain option which can be used every day along the joints of the fingers. Usually just rubbing this magnetic pen up and down over the whole hand, along the fingers, over the knuckles, all round the thumb and along the wrist and forearm for 5-10 minutes in the morning and evening (or multiple times throughout the day as required), - will help to alleviate pain, bring down swelling and help to regulate the energy meridians.
Like all subtle energy systems, the work we put in to help our energy systems recover- the dedication and time we diligently apply as a regular routine (40 days is a good marker for noticing benefits), and the belief in being able to affect change through our dedicated efforts- will all determine how well we recover.
Why Hydration & Breath Are Key
Water and air are our keys to life. Both contain the essence of energy we link to energy practices of Qigong, T'aiChi, Yoga and martial arts – they are forms of subtle energy movement we can direct with our intentions, our dedicated practices and through activation of the energy channels from our lower Dan Tien (two fingers below the belly button), the Nadial Complex middle Dan Tien (the back of the heart) and our upper dan Tien (located between the two eyes in the middle of the forehead). Our hands are a reflection of the stored power we have – and why Reiki healers have to perform practices that allow the flow of energy from the ether, through the back and down through the palms of the hands.
The three main tools shown in the blog above – including the standard Orgone Zapper, the Acupressure Pen and the Electronic Meridian Acupressure Pen, used in conjunction with a herbal parasite kidney and liver/Gallblader cleanse, plus a general detox diet with clean water and non-processed food – plus trying a lymph drainage diet (over a few weeks following video link below), can all help to rid the body of the issues we re told are just down to 'old age'.
