DNA AND THE CODE Our cellular signature code, called DNA is the coded information, contained in a double helix spiral, forming genomes (packets of information made up of amino acids ), which hold all the information for defining what we are and how we are formed. Hereditary factors from our mothers and fathers passed on in the egg fertilisation process, will determine how the genes are expressed – determining physical features like hair and eye colour. Studies by the Human Genome Project, uncovered how the genome sequences for humans were a lot lower than anticipated – with other living organisms having far larger genomes than humans. Chimpanzees have a very close DNA sequence to humans, although it's not been identified how these packets of information distinguish us from our closest primates.
